Tenterfield and the surrounding districts have always had a vibrant and enthusiastic arts community. This year’s calendar of arts events aims to showcase some of the wonderful creative talent of the shire’s residents.
Forest to Furniture, in the old Power House near Tenterfield’s Historic Railway Station will host the ever popular ‘Brush with Verse’ from 25th March, as well as the 6th Tenterfield Art Prize, a part of Oracles 2010. Please call Gail and Michael to view the art and fine furniture made locally. Wingbuds is Lenore Morris’ new gallery on the High and Logan Sts intersection. It is featuring new work by Lenore, her son Po, and niece Leslie. Regional Artists, venues and patrons will be highlighted from 26th Feb to 5th May by the Tenterfield leg of the 2010 Borderline Art Trail. This covers nearly 75km from Girraween to Drake and South Tabulam. As well as Wingbuds and Forest to Furniture other local venues include Margot Edwina Rees Antiques, Kraze Maze, Best Western Henry Parkes and the Royal Hotel Motel in High St. Local sculptor Chris Humpreys is another artist whose talent can be seen at some of the Art Trail venues (or if you’re travelling on south from Tenterfield in late March ‘10 his work can be seen at the Glen Innes Art Gallery). The trail starts in Stanthorpe at the Regional Art Gallery and
covers approximately 175km and 40 venues. The final event on the program is Borderline’s iconic ‘Art in the Mill’ over the Qld Labour Day weekend in May. |
